What SubGate does

SubGate is a personal subscription tracker. It finds the recurring subscriptions you are already paying for, tells you before each one renews, shows what they cost you per month in total, and takes you straight to the page where you can cancel.

Most people underestimate how many active subscriptions they have. Streaming services, apps, SaaS tools, gym memberships and free trials that quietly converted into paid plans are spread across app stores, credit-card statements and email receipts, and there is no single place that lists them. SubGate builds that list automatically instead of asking you to enter it by hand.

SubGate is a read-only tool. It never makes payments, never moves money, and never cancels anything on your behalf without you acting — it finds subscriptions, tracks them, warns you, and points you to the right cancellation page.

How SubGate works

1. You connect a data source. You can connect a Gmail or Outlook mailbox, a bank account through a regulated open-banking provider, or both. Every connection is optional and you choose which ones to grant.
2. SubGate looks for subscription billing records. In a connected mailbox it searches for subscription receipts, renewal notices, recurring invoices and trial-ending notifications. In a connected bank feed it looks for repeating charges from the same merchant.
3. SubGate builds your subscription list. For each subscription it identifies the merchant, the amount, the currency, the billing period (for example monthly or yearly) and the next renewal date.
4. SubGate reminds you and helps you cancel. You get a notification before each renewal and before any free trial converts to a paid plan, you see your true combined monthly spend, and each subscription links to the correct cancellation page for that service.

How SubGate uses your Google account data

Connecting a Gmail mailbox is optional. SubGate works with a bank connection alone. If you do choose to connect Gmail, this is exactly what happens.

Why SubGate needs it

A subscription receipt is very often the only record that a subscription exists — a bank statement line reading “APPLE.COM/BILL” does not say which app, which plan, or when it renews. The confirmation email does. Read-only Gmail access is what lets SubGate name the service, read the price and billing period, and work out the renewal date. Without it, SubGate can only show you an unlabelled charge.

What SubGate looks at

SubGate does not read your mailbox as a whole. It runs targeted searches, limited to the last 18 months, for messages that look like subscription billing:

• Messages Gmail itself has already categorised as purchases and receipts
• Messages whose subject or body indicates a receipt, invoice, payment, renewal, subscription, next billing date, auto-renewal or a trial that is ending

Messages that do not match those searches are never retrieved.

What SubGate extracts and keeps

From a matched message, SubGate keeps only the subscription facts it needs to build your list:

• Merchant or service name
• Amount and currency
• Billing period, and whether it is a trial
• Next renewal date
• Subscription status — active, trialling, or cancelled
• Which sender the receipt came from, shown beside the entry so you can see where SubGate found it

The messages themselves are never stored. SubGate reads a matched receipt only for as long as it takes to pull those fields out of it, then keeps nothing of the message — no subject lines, no message bodies, no attachments, no message IDs, no mailbox index. There is no copy of your mailbox anywhere in SubGate, and your personal correspondence is neither read nor stored.

What SubGate never does

• Never sells or rents your Gmail data, to anyone, for any purpose
• Never uses your Gmail data for advertising, ad targeting or profiling
• Never uses your Gmail data to train or improve generalised AI or machine-learning models
• Never sends, alters or deletes email — the permission granted makes this technically impossible
• Never grants human employees access to your messages, except where you explicitly ask for support on a specific subscription, or where the law requires it

Limited Use commitment

Turning access off

You stay in control of the connection at all times. You can disconnect your mailbox from within SubGate’s settings at any time, or revoke SubGate’s access directly from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Either action takes effect immediately. Scanning stops, and the access tokens SubGate was holding for that mailbox are deleted along with the connection record itself, so SubGate can no longer reach your Gmail. Because no messages were ever stored, there is no copy of your mail left to delete.

The subscriptions already on your list stay in your account, so turning a mailbox off does not erase the list you have built. Those entries remain yours to manage: delete any subscription individually whenever you like, or delete your account to remove everything SubGate holds about you. Bank connections

If you connect a bank account, SubGate uses a regulated open-banking provider to establish the connection. Your online banking credentials are entered into the provider’s own secure authentication flow — they are never visible to SubGate and are never stored by SubGate. SubGate receives transaction data only to identify recurring charges. It cannot initiate payments or move money.
